Statement of the Management Committee

25  March  2019 Statement of the Management Committee of the Competitors Commission: Settlement of members’ legal complaint against the World Dance Council’s Board of Directors for defamation The Management Committee of the Competitors Commission (the “MC”) is very pleased to announce that a number of its members have settled their long-standing legal dispute with the World Dance Council (“WDC”) in respect of allegations made against them by the Board of Directors of the World Dance Council (the “Board”) in an email sent to WDC Competitors on 10 February 2018 (the “Publication”).  The Publication was made by the Board following the World Dance Council’s purported dissolution of the Competitors Commission in January 2018. The MC considered a number of statements made in the Publication to be defamatory. As confirmed in a statement published on 18 July:  http://worldcompetitors.org/announcements/statement-of-the-management-committee-of-the-competitor-commission/ the MC has been engaged in a legal dispute with the Board in which it has been seeking to protect the independent status of the Competitors Commission in the face of its purported dissolution by the Board.  It has also been engaged in a defamation dispute with the Board in relation to the statements made in the Publication.  While the status of the Competitors …

Statement of the Management Committee of the Competitor’ Commission

18 July 2018   Statement of the Management Committee of the Competitors’ Commission Dear Competitors,  On 5 February 2018, the Management Committee received a letter from lawyers instructed by the Board of Directors of the World Dance Council, alleging that the Board of Directors had dissolved the Competitors’ Commission and decided to create a new WDC Competitors’ Committee, to take on the functions of the Competitors’Commission. The Management Committee confirms that it is currently engaged in a legal dispute with the Board of Directors of the World Dance Council in which it is disputing the dissolution of the Competitors’ Commission and seeking to protect the independent status of the Competitors’Commission within the World Dance Council. The Competitors’ Commission is an organisation with a long history of acting as the independent “voice” of Competitors, to ensure that their concerns can be raised in an open forum, by those who are independent of the Board of Directors of the World Dance Council. The Management Committee very much hopes that an amicable resolution with the Board of Directors can be reached in due course. If you have any queries in relation to this matter, please do feel free to get in touch. Management …

Please Support The Empress Orchestra

We The Competitors Commission would like to point out that as dancers we have to support the best musicians that provide us with the best dance music and therefore help us to enhance our performance. To have the great opportunity and the great pleasure to be able to dance to such wonderful music arrangements as the La Mariposa Tango composed by Ashley Frolick, the musical director of the Empress Orchestra, we must purchase original CD`s, to be able to have more of of the wonderful melodies available on further CD’s as the process of producing in studio-quality is very expensive in the making. Please keep in mind, that if we copy or share the dance music, we destroy ourselves a great opportunity to have more wonderful dance music like in the CD – “Always and Forever”!
